About the course

This qualification is designed for those looking to begin a career in early years and develop the knowledge and skills to support children from birth to 7 years.Whether you are new to the sector or looking to formalise your experience, this course provides a strong foundation for working in early years settings.What you will learnYou will develop knowledge and understanding in key areas including:
  • child development from birth to 7 years
  • safeguarding and child protection
  • health, safety and well-being
  • supporting play and learning
  • equality, diversity and inclusive practice
  • planning and delivering activities
Learning outcomesBy the end of this course, you will be able to:
  • support children’s development through purposeful play
  • apply safeguarding and welfare requirements confidently

Course details
  • Duration: 9–12 months
  • Delivery: Online learning + tutor support
  • Assessment: Portfolio of evidence + workplace observation
  • Placement: Required (approx. 250 hours)
Entry requirements
  • Aged 16+
  • No prior qualifications required
  • Access to a placement or working in an early years setting
ProgressionOn completion, you can:
  • work as a Level 2 Early Years Practitioner
  • progress to a Level 3 Early Years Educator qualification
